My Work in Progress

A sketchblog where I post a few of my scribbles from a variety of works-in-progress, usually from my rather random personal creativity outside of the daily grind. I occasionally, but not always, post the final artwork.

Random Creature

What the heck is a Golden Guddle Greaper? I'm not sure either, but this is the creature concept I came up with - 30 minutes "research", 1 hour sketching, 1 hour coloring:

And here's the original sketch:

Nice! Those feet are so awesome. I'm curious to know what you used for reference :)

Hey Sarah,

When I first starting thinking about this GGG creature, I imagined a kind of odd Suessian dude...or at least something that came with a nice mane which made me think of a Golden Lion Tamarin...however I wanted it to be more of a pet (sort of), so I threw in a Pomeranian face instead of a monkey, added a nice little bush of a tail, and then I wanted some little grasping hands for digging up and tearing apart grubs...so I added in a chicken for the scaly feet (just a mental reference, no particular image). That about covers it! :)

Looks nice :), it like has a cute look to it yet it's just ripping another creature into pieces. It could just as well be an evil creature in a animation series for kids, hehe.

Hi Kamil, it is a "Golden Guddle Greaper" -- an imaginary animal that was a concept I created for the ConceptArt.org challenge "Creature of the Week" (COW) in 2007. Here is a link to the thread with other contributors: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?87387-C-O-W-074-Golden-Guddle-Greaper

Hope that answers your question! :)
